This position is centered around building a modern, scalable, and business-aligned data platform to replace legacy, vendor-driven solutions tied to a recent Guidewire implementation. This engineer will help lead the design and implementation of a cloud-based data ecosystem leveraging Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake. The initiative is focused on bringing data ownership in-house, improving accessibility, ensuring audit readiness, and enabling enterprise-level reporting and analytics. You will partner closely with leadership, architects, and business stakeholders to define standards and influence the future of data engineering across the organization. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to shape long-term data strategy, modernize pipelines, and establish best practices while mentoring a growing team. Key Initiatives & Impact Lead the design and development of a scalable Snowflake-based data platform to replace Guidewire DataHub (DHIC). Drive the transition from vendor-managed data solutions to internally owned, end-to-end data architecture. Build and modernize data ingestion pipelines using Azure and Databricks to support enterprise reporting needs. Establish data engineering standards, governance, and best practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and transparency. Enable structured, centralized access to data across multiple formats (e.g., Excel, PDFs, and other sources) for business users. Partner with cross-functional teams to define data architecture, storage structures, and data lifecycle strategies. Support enterprise-wide initiatives focused on data accessibility, audit readiness, and reporting efficiency. Influence technology decisions and recommend tools and frameworks to enhance the data ecosystem. Required Skills & Experience Strong hands-on experience with: SQL Azure (Data Services) Databricks Snowflake Proven experience building and scaling data platforms in cloud environments, specifically Snowflake. Ability to design and implement end-to-end data pipelines and data warehouse solutions. Experience defining data architecture, including data modeling, storage layers, and transformation strategies. Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and integrity best practices. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders and leadership. Experience driving architectural decisions and recommending technology solutions. Ability to work with diverse data formats and structure them for analytics and reporting use cases. Master's Degree required. Preferred Qualifications Experience in property & casualty insurance or broader insurance domain. Familiarity with Guidewire data environments and modernization efforts. Exposure to Kafka, Apache Spark, or similar distributed data processing tools. Experience collaborating with architects and contributing to high-level solution design. Work Environment Hybrid work environment (no regular onsite requirement; occasional in-person collaboration encouraged). 37.5-hour work week (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM CST).
