Role:
Data Governance Engineer - Microsoft Fabric /
Purview Location:
Arlington, VA (Hybrid)
Experience:
6-12+ years Role Overview Looking for a Data Governance Engineer with hands-on experience in Microsoft Fabric and/or Purview to implement enterprise data governance for large-scale programs.
Key Skills Hands-on experience with:
Microsoft Fabric governance (workspaces, domains, access, sharing) Microsoft Purview (catalog, classification, lineage, glossary) Strong understanding of: Data lineage, metadata management, business glossary Data classification, sensitivity labeling, governance workflows Experience with: Data governance implementation (stewardship, ownership, policies) RBAC / access control (Azure AD / Entra or similar) Cloud data platforms/lakehouse architectures Responsibilities Implement data governance using Fabric + Purview Configure catalog, lineage, classification, and access controls Define and enforce data governance policies and workflows Enable data product governance (certification, sharing controls) Align governance with security, compliance, and platform teams Good to Have Experience integrating Purview with enterprise tools (Atlan/Collibra) Familiarity with Data Mesh governance patterns and data product operating models Experience implementing data quality governance tooling and scorecards Knowledge of privacy/security frameworks (ISO, SOC2 concepts, GDPR-like principles)
