Job Description
Overview LMI is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join a high performing team supporting a government healthcare client. In this role, you will design scalable data solutions and extract, transform, load (ETL) processes, manage critical application databases, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices for data integrity, availability, and performance. Responsibilities Supports data architecture for large-scale application programming interfaces (APIs) and web application back-end data stores (e.g., SQL Server, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL). Designs, builds, and maintains PySpark ETL processes to supply application data for usage in the web application via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Glue. Manages critical low latency application databases on platforms. Develops packages and scripts for system enhancements and interfaces. Develops scripts to validate the various data on systems. Develops and optimizes SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies to improve database performance and availability. Implements medallion architecture and data lake best practices within AWS cloud ecosystems. Executes statement to create and update various tables and views utilize for testing of code on a database. Establishes database backup/recovery strategy using user-manage backup and implements automation of many database administrator (DBA) utility functions. Engineers database solutions that ensure data request performance, reliability, and integrity for business-critical systems. Develops reusable components for deployment in a traditional data warehouse environment. Standardizes database maintenance activities by standardizing directory structure and documentation of DBA activities. Documents database design, data definition language, data migration strategies between different products/versions, and overall architecture to ensure system transparency and auditability. Collaborates with software engineering and data science teams to improve platform performance, scalability, and availability. Utilize AI-powered development tools (e.g., code autocompletion, debugging assistants, automated testing frameworks) to enhance coding efficiency, ensure accuracy, and accelerate the software development lifecycle.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations research, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field. 3+ years of experience. Strong analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Proficiency in Python and SQL. Experience with entity relationship diagrams (ERDs). Experience creating or working with data cleansing pipelines. Superior communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to absorb large amounts of new technical and policy knowledge without a lot of guidance.Desired:
Master's degree in industrial engineering, operations research, statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science or related discipline. Expert knowledge of Python and/or SQL Proficiency in noSQL. Understanding of federal healthcare programs. Experience working in a consultant/client enviornment. Experience with medallion architecture. 3-5 years of experience in data analysis and reporting.Target Salary Range:
