Position Overview A Data Analyst (with Accounting & Automation Support) collects, processes, and analyzes data to help organizations make informed business decisions. They transform raw data into actionable insights through statistical analysis, reporting, and visualization. This role also includes performing minor accounting functions and supporting process automation initiatives. position. Key Responsibilities Collect and mine data from primary and secondary sources (databases, APIs, spreadsheets, accounting systems, etc.). Clean, organize, and maintain data systems and databases to ensure accuracy and integrity. Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations. Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations (using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel) to communicate findings to stakeholders. Support minor accounting functions, including basic reconciliations, financial data validation, assisting with month-end close processes, invoice processing, expense tracking, and preparation of supporting schedules for financial statements or tax filings. Drive process automation by identifying inefficiencies, developing scripts/macros (e.g., in Python, Excel VBA, or Power Automate), implementing automated workflows for data entry, reporting, and routine accounting tasks, and maintaining automated processes. Develop and maintain data models, queries (e.g., SQL), and automated processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, finance, operations) to understand business needs and provide data-driven recommendations. Monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and support data governance initiatives. Conduct ad-hoc analyses for special projects or decision support.
Required Skills and Qualifications Education :
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master's preferred for senior roles).
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in SQL for data querying. Advanced Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, VBA/macros). Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation. Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. Basic understanding of accounting principles (e.g., GAAP basics, reconciliations) and process automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, or RPA basics). Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) is a plus.
Soft Skills :
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication (presenting insights clearly), and teamwork.
Experience :
0-2 years for junior roles. Certifications (e.g., Google Data Analytics, Microsoft Power BI, or entry-level accounting certifications) are a plus.
