Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Business Analytics, Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related field (strongly preferred)
Experience designing and supporting data ecosystems that prioritize data integrity, usability, and stakeholder value
Demonstrated experience working with data collection platforms (e.g., Qualtrics) and downstream reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
Experience with data preparation and analysis tools (e.g., R, Python), with emphasis on analytical problem-solving, data interpretation, and decision support
Experience translating business processes into data structures, workflows, and reporting solutions
Experience working with external vendors, application providers, or development teams to refine system functionality and user experience
Demonstrated ability to use data to support business decisions, program evaluation, or operational strategy
Adept at dashboard design, automated reporting, and data storytelling
Ability to translate organizational policy to actionable workflows to handle sensitive or restricted data environments
Experience working with higher education and/or constituent relationship management Position Summary The Analytics Systems Strategist plays a central role in shaping and maintaining the Institute for Disaster Management's ( IDM) data ecosystem to support research and service programs. This position focuses on ensuring the integrity, usability, and strategic value of data across its lifecycle
- from collection and system design to transformation and stakeholder-facing reporting.
The Analytics Systems Strategist plans, designs, and implements comprehensive data ecosystems in collaboration with IDM Faculty and Staff to meet grant deliverables.
This role serves as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, working closely with internal stakeholders and external application providers to design efficient, user-centered data processes. The Analytics Systems Strategist emphasizes data quality at the point of entry, thoughtful system and workflow design, and the delivery of actionable insights through automated reporting and dashboards. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Ability to listen effectively and clearly communicate technical issues both orally and in writing.
Possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize.
Understanding of business analysis principles, processes, and techniques.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Data Ecosystem Strategy & Design Design and maintain data system infrastructure to support IDM programs and service projects.
Enforce policy compliance during the collection, analysis, storage, and operational use of sensitive or restricted data.
Collaborate with external application providers and developers to refine system functionality, data structures, and user interfaces.
Develop and document data ecosystem processes to ensure program execution continuity.
Identify gaps in current systems and propose scalable, sustainable improvements. Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities Stakeholder Engagement Meet with internal stakeholders to understand program goals, reporting needs, and operational challenges.
Travel to meetings and other stakeholder engagement events. This position may require occasional overnight travel outside of the primary office location.
Translate stakeholder needs into clear functional requirements and data solutions.
Facilitate alignment between business needs and technical implementation across internal teams and external partners.
Support decision-making by ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, relevant, and timely data. Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities Process Documentation & Improvement Gather and document clear, detailed, and concise user requirements for existing and newly developed information systems, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders for review and clarification.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and refine requirements for data systems by utilizing project management skills to develop solutions based on needs.
Conduct thorough investigations and propose recommended solutions, encompassing detailed requirements, prototypes, workflow procedures, and rules.
Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, data quality, and user experience. Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities Data Preparation, Automation, & Reporting Develop and maintain automated reporting pipelines and dashboards.
