The Role The Franchise Data Analytics Intern will support PopUp Bagels' corporate Development and Construction teams through data-driven reporting, analysis, and project-based work that helps improve decision-making and execution across new shop openings, timeline builds, and development planning. This intern will gain hands-on experience working with real business data, building dashboards and performance trackers, and translating insights into clear recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how data supports growth in a fast-paced, high-growth franchise environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist in collecting, cleaning, organizing, and validating development, construction, and new store opening data from multiple sources (spreadsheets, trackers, internal systems, etc.). Build and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to support visibility into key milestones, timelines, and project progress. Support weekly and monthly reporting related to pipeline tracking, shop openings, construction status, and project performance, analyzing trends across development and construction timelines. Identify opportunities to improve data consistency, workflow tracking, and cross-functional reporting and create clear summaries, charts, and insights for presenting. Assist in documenting processes and improving existing trackers and reporting templates for scalability. Participate in team meetings and collaborate with various departments and perform project-based deliverables within deadlines. General Internship Program Expectations Attend intern onboarding sessions, weekly departmental check-ins, and end-of-program presentations. Curiosity and initiative to troubleshoot issues, improve reporting methods, and propose solutions. Communicate progress and ask questions proactively to ensure alignment and learning. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable operating in a growing, evolving environment where priorities and needs may shift quickly. Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Required Education, Experience, and Competencies:
Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior undergraduate student, or graduate student, in one of the following (or a closely related field): Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or Economics Previous internship, project work, or coursework involving data analysis, reporting, dashboards, or business insights (highly preferred) Experience working with and interpreting large datasets, spreadsheets, or data visualization tools in an academic or professional setting and presenting findings in a clear, concise manner Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, data validation); familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio) is a plus Statistical fundamentals: Working knowledge of regression concepts including multicollinearity, heteroskedasticity, R², adjusted R², p-values, and confidence intervals Data wrangling: Ability to clean, merge, and transform messy datasets (e.g., sales by location, foot traffic, demographic overlays) using tools such as pandas or dplyr; experience constructing and selecting meaningful independent variables (e.g., AUV, daypart mix, trade area demographics, lease commencement dates, proximity to anchor tenants) Geospatial literacy: Familiarity with GIS tools or Python libraries (e.g., GeoPandas, Folium) to incorporate location-based variables into site evaluation and scoring Data visualization: Ability to create clear analytical outputs such as residual plots, correlation heatmaps, and coefficient charts using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Tableau, and communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders Spreadsheet fluency: Ability to validate analytical outputs against Excel/Google Sheets and build clean, executive-ready summary tables
Location:
Based Atlanta, GA or surrounding area and available for 10-week summer intern program between June-July. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer to complete reports, analysis, and documentation. Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 15 pounds (e.g., laptop, materials, supplies) if needed. Ability to travel locally to corporate sites or shops on occasion, if required for internship exposure.

Pay:
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
