OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
We're looking for a detail-oriented Jr. Data Analyst to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a data detective with proven experience in uncovering hidden data insights and patterns and communicating them to stakeholders with compelling storytelling. This role plays a key part in identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving claim accuracy across Group Health and Workers' Compensation plans. Jr. Data Analyst brings a strong background in statistics and modeling, hands-on experience with healthcare claims data, strong technical skills (SQL, Python, Power BI), and a passion for improving healthcare. This role is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Candidates located near the company office may be expected to work on-site 2-3 days per week. Remote employees may be required to travel to the Portland office location based on business needs. This role reports to the Senior Director of Data Science.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze Group Health and Workers' Compensation claims data to identify cost-savings opportunities for potential and existing clients, billing practices, errors, and overpayments. Build, validate, and maintain statistical models that uncover trends and drive informed business decisions from healthcare data. Work closely with operational and sales teams to interpret patterns in data and recommend process improvements. Build and maintain reports and dashboards that monitor claim activity and performance metrics. Translate business requirements into technical specifications for analytical projects. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field. 3+ years of experience in applying statistical modeling techniques and methodologies (such as Six Sigma, regression analysis, or hypothesis testing) and analyzing healthcare claims or related healthcare data. Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI for data analysis and visualizations. Experience working with SQL databases and database tools (e.g., MySQL Workbench, DBeaver). Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and claims adjudication. Experience working in payment integrity, healthcare cost containment, or audit functions. Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship.
Preferred:
Experience with medical coding standards (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS). Familiarity with Medicare Advantage, Group Health, and Workers' Compensation payer systems.
