Temporary Research Assistant - Machine Learning & Remote Sensing

Overview A Temporary Research Assistant position is available in USDA Agricultural Research Service at Edward T. Schafer Agricultural Research Center in Fargo, ND and hired through North Dakota State University. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our Remote Sensing and Imaging team in Sugarbeet Research Unit. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in automation research on agricultural crop production. The ideal candidate will assist in various research projects on drone, field robot, and satellite platforms while developing their skills in sensing, control, and imaging techniques and data analysis. Responsibilities Assist with conducting experiments and research projects under the supervision of senior researchers. Assist in designing and troubleshooting the hardware integration and in-house software for sensing and control interface Maintain accurate records of experiments, analyze data, and report summarizing findings. Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and efficient laboratory environment. Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Familiarity with Python, Raspberry Pi, and Arduino is preferred. Experience or course work related to Image Processing, Field Robotics, GIS, Drone, and Precision Agriculture is advantageous. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret scientific data effectively. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
