The Machine Learning Department (MLD) at Carnegie Mellon University is a leading hub for research and education in artificial intelligence and machine learning. It focuses on developing innovative algorithms and models to address complex problems in diverse fields such as robotics, healthcare, and finance. The department offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, fostering a collaborative environment that bridges theoretical research and practical applications. Faculty and students frequently collaborate with industry and other academic disciplines to push the boundaries of what is possible with machine learning. MLD is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to neuroscience and AI research aimed at reverse-engineering animal brain function to inform the design of intelligent agents. This role involves analyzing neural data, developing machine learning models, and running experiments to uncover how biological neural circuits solve sensory-motor tasks. Core Responsibilities Analyze neural datasets using Python and standard scientific libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib). Develop and evaluate machine learning models to predict neural activity and behavior. Assist with preprocessing, organizing, and maintaining large-scale neuroscience data. Conduct literature reviews and summarize relevant computational neuroscience or AI papers. Communicate results through figures, presentations, and written summaries Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals. Strong communication, problem-solving and reasoning skills. Strong programming skills in Python. A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.Requirements :
