Job Description

Core Model Development Engineer Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Core Model Development Engineer at our Superior Township, MI facility. The Core Model Development Team is a part of the Vehicle Architecture and Powertrain Matching (VA&M) Department which focuses on the definition of critical powertrain requirements along with advanced concept development for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis products.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Develop the core tool and subsystem models for fuel economy, linear performance, grade performance, and trailer tow simulationAssess model robustness and lead efforts to assure correlation between test data and simulation resultsEstablish, maintain, and follow version control and model validation procedures for the core model, component subsystems, and tool infrastructureWrite clear documentation and development standards for users and developersExplore and apply AI/ML technologies to both the model and the development processPrepare and present technical reports on key project milestones/achievements and provide actionable insights and recommendations for product improvementsFoster communication and collaboration between model users, developers, and stakeholdersTravel both domestically and internationally, as required (up to 15%)
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering or related fieldExperience in simulation, software, or controls developmentDemonstrated foundational knowledge of automotive powertrains and related subsystemsExperience developing tools and models in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or other programming languagesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to clearly explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical collaboratorsValid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving recordPreferred Qualifications3+ years of engineering experience in simulation, software, or controls development2+ years of experience working on large scale simulation platforms developed in MATLAB/SimulinkProficiency with version control systems such as GitHub or GitLabFamiliarity with multi-domain and thermal simulation using GT-SuiteExperience leveraging HPC technologies, Linux, and
