Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Lead/Principal Data Scientist (Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - Miami, Florida) - Lead a team of data scientists and engineers to design and build analytics-based methodologies, solutions, and products that deliver value to BCG's clients.
Specific duties include:
drive creation of relevant products and service offerings by collaborating with BCGs industry and functional Practice Areas; organize and lead teams of data scientists and engineers to define client objectives, design and clarify work plans and methodologies, lead and execute work, deliver comprehensive and customized analytics solutions, and present findings to stakeholders; collaborate directly with clients and across BCG case teams to successfully execute the delivery of data science projects; ensure appropriate testing of quality and performance; and mentor and coach data science team members on both a formal and informal basis. Requires a Bachelors degree in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer/Data Science, Engineering, Business, Economics, Operations Research, or a related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Data Scientist or related occupation developing advanced data analytics solutions in an enterprise environment, which must include at least six (6) months of experience leading the design and roll-out of analytics engagements. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) - must possess the following skills (i) deploy core analytics methodologies and techniques including at least two of the following: predictive modeling, exploratory data analysis, descriptive statistics, variable reduction, segmentation/clustering, linear programming, integer programming, dynamic programming, and/or constraint programming; (ii) design complex analytics solutions and products using at least two of the following analytics techniques: time series analysis, linear, logistic, and multinomial regression, decision-tree based models, neural networks, Monte Carlo simulations, mathematical optimization, matrix factorization, deep learning approaches, and/or natural language processing; (iii) perform data visualization using at least one of the following tools: Tableau, GIS toolkits, JavaScript/D3, and/or R Shiny; (iv) execute quality control and performance testing in multiple languages, including at least two of the following: Python, R, Spark, and/or SQL; (v) drive Agile projects and apply lean methodologies to model development; and (vi) deliver impactful, client facing analytics solutions. M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 45+ hours per week. Partial telecommute benefit available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of listed BCG office.
