Monday through Thursday Job Description The Fundamental Modeling Analyst will support the Trading Data Analytics discipline within the Trading Analytics & Insights (TA&I) organization at bp Trading & Shipping. The Trading Data Analytics discipline comprises Quantitative Analysts, Data Strategists, and Core Strategists (Software Engineers). Linked by common themes of data, numerical algorithms, and technology, the team seeks to add value to the business by delivering new models, tradable insights, and agile technology solutions that empower the analyst community and enhance commercial outcomes. This role will work alongside the Gas and Power Trading Americas Fundamental Modelling and Innovation Team and provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with analysts and strategists across the North American region and commodity lines to design and build scalable solutions to business-critical problems in a fast-paced, data-rich trading environment. Required Education STEM Degree required Undergraduate degree in a STEM subject or quantitative discipline Essential Experience & Qualifications 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with machine learning models and regressions Strong Python skills with a robust understanding of core data science packages, including: pandas numpy sklearn Experience manipulating and analyzing large, complex datasets Strong attention to detail Excellent problem-solving skills Proven track record of working with traders or business stakeholders to create commercially actionable models Independent and creative thinker with the ability to identify alternative solutions to complex problems Passion for innovation and continuous improvement with the ability to develop new analytical methodologies Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment Preferred Experience & Skills Knowledge of U.S. or North American energy markets, including: Low-carbon Oil Gas LNG Power Understanding of supply and demand drivers and how physical and related financial instruments are traded
