Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties This position is eligible to hybrid telework option, in accordance with Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the Sacramento Headquarters as needed/required. This is subject to change based on operational need and/or future to office orders. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Under the general direction of the Research Data Supervisor II, the Research Data Specialist (RDS) II designs and directs major complex research projects or activities including the implementation of legislation with research or data requirements and performs the more complex data analysis to measure progress addressing homelessness throughout the state. This RDS II will also be responsible for managing projects that include defining and creating new data models and visualization methodologies and reporting on research findings to assist Cal ICH and its stakeholders in making data-informed policy decisions and recommendations. The RDS II uses statistical software and programming (such as SQL and R), as well as business intelligence tools (such as Tableau). The RDS II also uses spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to prepare charts, tables, presentations, and research reports for a variety of audiences. This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment. The California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH), an entity within BCSH, is a statewide facilitator, coordinator, and leader for policy development and research for state, local and Tribal partners in their work to prevent and end homelessness in California.
