The position will develop and maintain prioritization models integrating sewer need, development potential, zoning context, and community participation metrics to guide neighborhood selection. The position is housed within Lafayette Consolidated Government's Taylor Center and includes regular coordination across departments. The role works closely with the Mayor-President's Office, Lafayette Utilities System, the Community Development and Planning Department, and Coteries to support data-informed decision-making and track neighborhood-level outcomes. Work involves analyzing lift station performance data, mapping sewer repair activity, tracking resident engagement, monitoring housing development metrics, and developing dashboards and reports to guide decision-making. Independent judgment is required to identify trends, validate data integrity, and recommend data-informed adjustments to program implementation. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Program Manager, Neighborhood Revitalization, with overall program direction provided by the Human Services Manager for Lafayette Consolidated Government. The nature of the work is technical and non-supervisory. This position is part of a cross-departmental initiative and may be reassigned or integrated into a different department based on program needs over time. This is a project-specific appointment supporting a defined infrastructure and neighborhood revitalization initiative. The position is expected to be funded for an initial one-year period, with the intent to continue into a second year based on program progress and funding. As the initiative evolves, the role may be integrated into an ongoing function within city government. Responsibilities
  • Collects and analyzes wastewater system performance data.
  • Develops dashboards tracking sewer repairs, participation rates, and housing commitments.
  • Maps repair locations and overlays development and demographic information.
  • Prepares quarterly performance reports.
  • Develops and maintains prioritization models to identify and recommend priority neighborhoods based on sewer need, development potential, zoning context, and community participation indicators.
  • Supports grant reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinates data entry, management, and quality control within Neighborly and other program tracking systems to support reporting, resident tracking, and program operations.
  • Performs related work as required. Qualifications
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical principles.
  • Knowledge of database management and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to manage and maintain program data systems and resident tracking platforms; experience with Neighborly or similar systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of GIS and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical and infrastructure-related data.
  • Ability to prepare clear written and graphical reports and communicate analytical findings.
  • Work independently and manage multiple data requests.
  • Translate quantitative findings into policy-relevant insights to inform executive decision-making.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or related field, and professional experience in data analysis.
  • Experience working with municipal, infrastructure, or housing datasets is desirable.
Pay:
$22.00 - $27.00 per hour
