Job Description
The Hospital Quality Data Specialist collects, analyzes, coordinates, and reports hospital performance data to support quality and safety improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance. This role collaborates with clinical teams and leadership to ensure data integrity and timeliness of data submissions, identify trends, and drive improvements in patient care and safety. Support hospital compliance with reporting requirements based on Joint Commission, CMS, and UT Health-based quality compliance requirements. Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare- or data-related field 2 or more years of experience in healthcare quality reporting, quality improvement, clinical data abstraction, data analysis, and/or related areas. Proficiency in data analytics tools and electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Epic. Understanding of healthcare quality measure specifications (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, HEDIS). Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively across teams. Experience with tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or SQL. Familiarity with quality programs (e.g., ORYX, Value-Based Purchasing, HEDIS, or Hospital Compare). Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. Collect, organize, and validate hospital quality and safety data from multiple sources. Support hospital compliance with reporting requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, state mandates). Coordinate the submission of accurate and valid clinical data to external registries to meet specification requirements and submission deadlines. Analyze data to identify trends, variations, and areas for improvement. Create and maintain dashboards and reports for leadership and clinical teams. Collaborate with quality, infection prevention, and safety teams to ensure accurate interpretation and utilization of data. Assist in benchmarking performance against internal and external metrics. Provide technical expertise on data management tools and methodologies. Participate in quality improvement projects and support evidence-based interventions.
