San Jose, CA Job Summary:
The Data Center Support Administrator is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting the physical and logical infrastructure within a data center environment. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of servers, networking equipment, and supporting systems. Key Responsibilities 1.
Facility & Resource Management Environmental Compliance:
Maintain power and cooling stability within the
ASHRAE A1
standard for both DSA and DRT data center sites.
Capacity Planning:
Analyze power stability distribution to determine optimal layout plans and provide recommendations for system relocations
Physical Maintenance:
Conduct regular cleanup operations to ensure all cables, servers, and miscellaneous parts are organized and accounted for. Analyze, research, configure, install networks & computer systems Works with OEM on server repair warranty and parts replenishment Escorts visitors within datacenter Interface with electrical and infrastructure vendors for routine maintenance visits Order supplies to replenish data center stock or for upcoming projects Uses advanced troubleshooting skills for hardware and infrastructure problem or failure remediation Generates and works from ticket system to provide support and project Operating Windows / Linux / Storage Data Center Onsite support 2.
Monitoring & Reporting Operational Reporting:
Generate weekly and monthly reports covering critical metrics including power consumption, CCTV status, rack space utilization, temperature, and humidity.
SLA & Asset Tracking:
Produce monthly SLA reports to ensure all assets on the DSA DC 2nd floor are fully accounted for.
System Backup:
Manage and verify ongoing backups for DCIM (DCE/ITA) systems across both sites to prevent data loss. 3.
Security & Access Control Access Management:
Oversee badge issuance and access record management, ensuring all technician requests are processed 24 hours in advance and eligibility is verified.
Surveillance Oversight:
Manage CCTV recording machines, ensuring a 30-day footage backup cycle in compliance with group regulations.
Physical Security:
Coordinate with security teams to scan and report all assets entering or exiting the facility. 4.
Daily Operational Support Facility Inspections:
Perform twice-daily walkthroughs of the DSA DC to ensure the environment is clean, compliant, and free of operational issues.
Logistics Coordination:
Manage the "Carry In/Out" process, updating GLPI, ITA, and security logs via BOX.com. Maintain the staging room inventory through regular audits.
Technical Assistance:
Support lab technicians with physical racking, cabling, troubleshooting, and general hardware inventory tasks.
Database Administration:
Serve as the
GLPI/ITA
administrator, accurately inputting model types, locations, and asset changes upon request. 5.
Coordination & E-Waste Management Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work with lab teams for future project planning and construction, and coordinate with WSG for PDU/Cage upgrades.
Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the end-of-life process for servers and hard drives at both DSA and DRT, ensuring all e-waste is inventoried, scanned, and recorded before disposal. 6.
Documentation & Standardization Process Development:
Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data center operations, including "Carry In/Out" processes and rack space request workflows.
Technical Mapping:
Maintain accurate documentation for rack assignments, sensor layouts (temperature/humidity), and equipment replacement logs.
Administrative Logs:
Manage mileage logs for site visits and maintain a comprehensive manual of best practices for DC operations.
Pay:
$6,000.00 - $6,500.00 per month
