Must Have Technical/Functional Skills:
Database Installation and Configuration:
Installing, configuring, and upgrading Teradata database systems, including software and utilities.
User and Security Management:
Creating and managing user accounts, roles, profiles, and basic access privileges to control database access.
Backup and Recovery Operations:
Performing routine data backups, managing recovery processes, and ensuring data integrity and availability.
System Monitoring and Alerting:
Monitoring database health, performance metrics (CPU, I/O, space), and setting up alerts for potential issues.
Basic Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and resolving common database-related problems, such as connectivity issues, space constraints, or failed jobs.
Advanced Responsibilities:
Performance Tuning and Optimization:
Deep diving into SQL query optimization, analyzing explain plans, and implementing advanced techniques (e.g., join indexes, partitioning) to enhance system performance. Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing:
Developing, documenting, and regularly testing comprehensive disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of a major outage.
Advanced Security and Compliance:
Implementing advanced security features (e.g., encryption, auditing, row-level security), ensuring compliance with data governance policies, and conducting security audits.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Proficiency in Scripting Languages (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting): While automation was mentioned, advanced scripting skills allow for more sophisticated custom monitoring, reporting, and proactive problem-solving beyond standard tools. Cloud Platform Familiarity (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud): With Teradata Vantage often deployed on cloud platforms, understanding cloud infrastructure, networ king, and security concepts within these environments is increasingly valuable.
Strong Data Warehousing and ETL Concepts:

Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills:
