DOE Work hours- it will be an 8-hour shift in PST hours we will tell you shift time on selection About the Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Center Administrator to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
The daily responsibilities of a Data Center Administrator are varied and critical to the smooth functioning of the organization's IT infrastructure.Key responsibilities include:
Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage arrays, and network equipment. Oversee the physical layout of the data center, including rack and cable management. Monitor and manage power and cooling systems to ensure optimal environmental conditions. Monitor and calculate power usage, power balancing and power availability in each cabinet Continuously monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure maximum uptime. Perform regular hardware and software maintenance, including patches and upgrades. Implement and enforce security protocols to protect the data center from physical and digital threats. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Create and maintain detailed documentation of data center configurations, procedures, and assets. Participate in capacity planning to ensure the data center can meet future needs. Collaborate with other IT teams to support new applications and services. Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues. Ability to collaborate with other engineers and IT professionals to achieve common goals, troubleshooting and resolving issues Communicate and coordinate with remote hands in remote data centers, providing technical direction when needed. Maintain asset inventory in DCIM for both production and lab environments Perform all shipping and receiving duties including RMA activities. Impeccable hygiene on tickets and tasks assigned in a timely manner Follow change management process and participate in off hours change windows Comfortable using command line interfaces. Familiarity with Linux and other cli operating systems. Ability to lift up to 75 lb.Requirements:
Strong technical knowledge of networking, servers, storage experience with data center design and implementation. Hands-on experience with server and storage hardware from various vendors. Experience with virtualization technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, VMware Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with data center security and best practices. Minimum of 4 years hands on experience with Data Center technologies compute, network, storage, cabling, racks, PDUs, etc. Great knowledge and experience with planning cooling, power and space resources Linux/Unix system administration, networking and SAN connectivity skills strongly desired Experience working with vendors (RMA processes, support interactions) Coding skills to automate repetitive tasks and gather reporting information Experience supporting 24x7 customer facing production environment. Ability to troubleshoot and solve hardware problems independently. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related fieldSimilar remote jobs
