SQL Database Administrator

The Database Administrator integrates change requests into in‑house software, monitors and tunes database performance, and ensures high availability and data integrity. They also manage enterprise backups, Windows Server administration, virtualization, and technical troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to IT incident and problem tickets within defined SLA Install and maintain SQL Server databases and clusters, ensuring proper configuration for performance and security Provision, configure, and manage virtual machines to host database workloads, ensuring efficient resource allocation Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory integration, group policies, and OS-level security hardening Monitor database and server performance, identify issues, and apply tuning techniques to maintain efficiency Establish and manage backup schedules and disaster recovery plans for secure data protection Enforce access controls, grant user privileges, and ensure compliance with security policies and best practices Manage patching and lifecycle updates for database engines and Windows Server operating systems Analyze query performance using SQL Profiler, Data Performance Analyzer, Query Store, and optimize queries and indexes Maintain multi-tiered production storage systems, monitor disk space, resources, and forecast future storage needs

Qualifications:

5+ years supporting SQL database environments 3+ years managing Windows Server environments 2+ years managing virtualization platforms Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database design and architecture Experience in SQL query optimization, index management, and execution plan analysis Proficiency in Windows Server administration (Roles, Features, PowerShell scripting) Strong skills in database backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies Experience with SQL Server clustering, Always On availability groups, and mirroring Familiarity with SQL monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Data Performance Analyzer, and Query Store Experience with enterprise-level storage array management and backup technologies

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in hybrid cloud/on-prem environment Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Experience with Linux Experience with monitoring tools like
