20000, and CMMI-Level III certified As a Prime Government Contractor for a major government institution, we are currently searching for a talented Windows System Administrator with experience in SQL Administration and Secret Clearance to work in Washington DC Job Requirements A Windows and SQL Administrator is a hybrid IT responsible for maintaining the health, security, and performance of both the Microsoft Windows Server operating environments and the Microsoft SQL Server database systems that drive business applications. This role ensures high availability, enforces data security, and handles disaster recovery. Key Responsibilities System Administration (Windows)
Server Maintenance:
Install, configure, and patch Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (on-premises).
Infrastructure Health:
Monitor server resources (CPU, memory, disk space) and resolve operating system-level bottlenecks.
Active Directory:
Manage user and group access, policies, and authentication protocols using Active Directory (AD).
Automation:
Write scripts using PowerShell or batch files to automate routine administrative tasks and server deployments Database Administration (SQL)
Performance & Tuning:
Monitor SQL Server performance metrics, optimize queries, and tune database indexes for maximum efficiency.
Backups & Recovery:
Design and execute robust backup and disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss.
Maintenance & Upgrades:
Install database software updates, apply patches, and manage capacity planning as data scales.
Essential Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience. Typically, 3-5 years of experience in systems and database administration.
Technical Proficiencies:
Strong working knowledge of Windows Server environments. Familiarity with High Availability / Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) technologies like Always On Availability Groups or Failover Clustering. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS) .
Certification:
