RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages, organizes, and maintains hospital information system (HIS) databases to support The Queen's Health System's (QHS) hospital information systems (HIS) operations. Responsible for integrity of database including, planning, development, troubleshooting and issue resolution. Applies system updates as assigned. Performs tuning, testing, system analysis and security management.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential:

finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.

Continuous:

sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

Frequent:

walking.

Occasional:

standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object. Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Work schedule includes providing 24 hour/7 days a week support as required.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field; four (4) years progressively responsible experience in database administration may be substituted for educational requirement. Must successfully complete and maintain certification(s) in the application(s) assigned, and as may be specified per the training agreement.

B. EXPERIENCE

In addition to educational requirement, three (3) years healthcare information systems (HIS) implementation and support experience required. EpicCare experience preferred. Two (2) years database administrator experience with Cache/IRIS (Mumps), ORACLE or MS SQL Server, depending upon area of assignment, or similar database required. ?
