Job Description

Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior DBA with strong expertise in relational databases and a solid understanding of AWS cloud architecture. This role requires an individual who can independently plan, design, and optimize database environments while aligning business needs in a cloud-first ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
Finops activities for DBs and backup services in AWS. Setup end-to-end observability for DBs, AWS services. Independently plan, design, and manage relational databases in AWS. Own end-to-end database architecture, performance, and reliability. Implement and manage HA/DR solutions. Perform advanced performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing. Develop SQL enhancements, stored procedures, and data models aligned with business logic. Understand and translate business requirements into efficient database solutions. Experience in migrations and modernization efforts (on-Prem to AWS Platform, Azure to AWS platform, cross-platform where applicable). Define and execute backup, recovery, and data protection strategies. Ensure security, compliance, and data governance. Automate operational tasks using scripting. Leverage AI-driven tools and capabilities for optimization, monitoring, and productivity.
Requirements:
10 years of DBA experience with significant hands-on expertise. Strong experience in relational databases (preferably SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL). Experience and expertise across multiple database platforms and ecosystems. Solid understanding of AWS cloud, including: Amazon RDS Amazon Aurora Experience in Redshift / data warehouse environments. Experience in Snowflake or similar warehouse systems. EC2-based database deployments. Cloud architecture, scalability, and cost optimization. Advanced expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, execution plans, and indexing. Strong experience in SQL development and enhancements. Proven ability to understand and implement business logic at the database layer. Experience with database migration tools (AWS DMS, SCT, etc.). Proficiency in automation/scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with data warehousing and analytics platforms. Experience leveraging AI/ML-assisted tools in database operations or engineering workflows. DevOps practices (CI/CD, Terraform, CloudFormation). Exposure to NoSQL databases. Data governance and compliance experience.
