The RoleAs an IBM i (AS/400) Database Administrator - Performance & Capacity Specialist at Kyndryl, you'll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You'll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world.

There's never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You'll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You'll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Who You AreYou're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. Required Skills and Experience13-16 years of experience managing and supporting IBM i / AS400 / iSeries environments, including system administration, performance tuning, and database management.

Advanced expertise in DB2 for i, performance tuning, and IBM i system internals.

Strong proficiency with iDoctor, Plan Cache, SQL Performance Monitor, Collection Services, and other IBM i performance tools.

Solid understanding of IBM i security concepts, journaling, BRMS, and backup/recovery strategies.

Experience in diagnosing and resolving complex performance bottlenecks across database, CPU, memory, and I/O layers.

Knowledge of encryption standards, security administration, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable insights and expert recommendations.

Preferred Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.

Experience with HA/DR solutions (Power
HA, MIMIX, BRMS
).Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments with mission-critical workloads.

Strong communication and documentation skills.

Mentor junior team members on IBM i performance concepts, diagnostic techniques, and database operations.
