Operations Manager / Project Manager/Foreman Job Summary Netcom Technologies is a leading low voltage contracting firm specializing in the design, installation, and maintenance of mission-critical structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Data Center Fiber Technician to join our team. This role focuses on the installation, splicing, termination, and testing of high-density fiber optic systems—particularly ribbon fiber and ultra-high strand count ribbon fiber cables (e.g., 288-strand, 576-strand, 1,728-strand, 3,456-strand, 6,912-strand and higher)—across data center, hyperscale, and enterprise client projects in the DMV region and beyond. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced contracting environment, delivering high-quality workmanship on schedule while meeting strict client and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Install, route, ribbonize (if required), splice, and test single-mode and multimode fiber optic cable infrastructure on data center and commercial projects. Perform precision ribbon fiber splicing and mass fusion splicing of ultra-high strand count ribbon cables (288-strand up to 6,912-strand) using fusion splicers. Break out, manage slack, and route ultra-high-count ribbon fiber cables in overhead ladder tray, underfloor systems, and high-density fiber management panels while maintaining proper bend radius and minimizing attenuation. Conduct comprehensive testing with OTDR, optical power meters, and visual fault locators; document link loss budgets and troubleshoot fiber issues. Execute fiber optic infrastructure for new builds, expansions, tenant fit-outs, and technology refreshes in accordance with project specifications and contracts. Read and interpret project drawings, cable schedules, and engineering documents to ensure accurate installations. Maintain detailed project documentation including red-line as-builts, splice logs, test results, and daily progress reports. Adhere to all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and Netcom quality control procedures on every job site. Travel to project sites throughout the region as required. Required Qualifications & Skills 2+ years of hands-on experience installing and splicing fiber optics in commercial or data center environments. Demonstrated expertise in ribbon fiber and ultra-high strand count ribbon fiber cable handling, ribbonizing, splicing, and termination (up to 6,912-strand). Proficient with ribbon-capable fusion splicers (Fujikura, Sumitomo, INNO, etc.), fiber cleavers, strippers, and high-density termination tools. Strong knowledge of industry standards (TIA-568, TIA-942, BICSI, NEC Article 770). Experience working in live data center environments and following strict change management processes. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, in confined spaces, and within active construction sites. Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean background check. Preferred Qualifications BICSI Technician, Installer II Fiber, or equivalent fiber optic certifications. Experience as a low voltage or structured cabling technician in a contracting environment. Familiarity with MPO/MTP connectors, polarity management, and high-density fiber panels (Corning, CommScope, Panduit, etc.). OSHA 10 or 30 certification. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay ($30
