Job Description

The Senior ETL Developer is the primary owner of the organization's data integration platform, responsible for the reliability and ongoing modernization of a portfolio of SSIS packages, SQL Agent jobs, and supporting scripts that process healthcare data daily. The role operates against an existing, prioritized backlog and involves approximately 60% maintenance and 40% improvement work. This is a sole-owner position, not part of a team rotation. Responsibilities Maintain the existing SSIS package and SQL Agent job portfolio; monitor, alert, and respond to overnight failures. Diagnose and resolve ETL failures end-to-end; document root cause and resolution for each incident. Tune and refactor existing packages and stored procedures for performance and reliability. Design and build new ETL workflows for new data feeds and file formats. Maintain version control discipline across the portfolio: Git, pull requests, and a defined deployment process. Write and maintain runbooks for every recurring job in the portfolio. Coordinate with the DBA, application engineers, and operations team on changes that affect downstream systems. Required Qualifications 5+ years building and supporting SSIS in production.
Strong T-SQL:
stored procedures, query plans, indexing, and performance tuning on SQL Server or Azure SQL. Working scripting fluency in C#, PowerShell, or Python.
SQL Server Agent:
scheduling, job steps, alerts, and failure handling.
File-based integration patterns:
flat files, CSV, fixed-width, XML, SFTP. Source control with Git or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare EDI (837, 835, 270/271) or other healthcare data experience. Azure Data Factory and related Azure data services. Experience modernizing legacy SSIS workloads onto cloud-native tooling. Experience working in a SOC 2 or HITRUST environment.
