- Job Description
- We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment. This role requires a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Key Responsibilities
- Install and decommission network and cabling infrastructure within data center environments
- Deliver sustainable, repeatable solutions and continuously identify opportunities for process improvement
- Provide structured updates and feedback on project progress to stakeholders
- Maintain high-quality workmanship and uphold data center cleanliness standards
- Follow all production, safety, quality standards, codes, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve project obstacles
- Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, design documents, and redline drawings
- Support rack-and-stack activities, including equipment installation and cable management
- Perform copper and fiber cabling installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting
- Required Skills
- Fiber optic cabling
- Rack and stack / racking systems
- Structured cabling (Cat5, Cat6, etc.)
- Data center installation and infrastructure support
- Additional Qualifications
- Proficient with basic telecom hand tools
- Strong understanding of customer service principles
- Knowledge of job safety requirements and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and design documents
- Familiarity with wiring schemes, cable testing, and troubleshooting
- Experience pulling various types of low-voltage cabling
- Ability to perform field terminations, labeling, and cable dressing
- Experience working in MDF and IDF environments
- Capable of installing ladder racking and seismic bracing (overhead and raised floor)
- Understanding of both copper and fiber testing methods and tools
- Technical Responsibilities
- Install, connect, and decommission network equipment
- Perform fusion splicing (ribbon and single fiber, OSP/ISP)
- Dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing
- Operate and program testing equipment (e.g., DSX-5000, OTDR)
- Download and manage test results using LinkWare / LinkWare Live
- Save, verify, and submit testing documentation to customers
- Create and apply mass labeling according to port maps
- Identify live vs. decommissioned cabling
- Conduct copper testing and troubleshooting
- Perform service swaps of live network devices
- Utilize FIM databases and scanning tools
- Additional Expectations
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation and paperwork
- Be capable of running service jobs independently
- Take daily direction from senior technical staff while reporting to the Operations Manager

- This is a Contract position based out of Sparks, NV.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
