Job Description

Our client in Western New York is seeking a Cloud Database Administrator to join their team! This is a hybrid/full-time/direct hire position Salary for this role based on experience: $79k-$93k Job Responsibilities 25%
Cloud Data Platform Administration :
Administer Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, pools, permissions, and configurations. Implement governance, access controls, secrets management, and workspace policies. Ensure cost-efficient compute usage through autoscaling, cluster policies, and monitoring. 20%
Data Infrastructure Reliability & Performance :
Monitor performance of Databricks jobs, SQL warehouses, and underlying storage. Proactively tune clusters, SQL environments, and pipelines to ensure high availability. Maintain observability through monitoring platforms, SQL Server, Databricks Metrics, and alerting. 15%
Data Backup, Recovery, & Resilience :
Resolve data platform issues related to cluster performance, job failures, permissions, or integration points. Collaborate with data engineering and development teams to troubleshoot environment-level issues. 15%
Database & Data System Security :
Implement platform-wide security standards: SQL roles, Azure RBAC, network rules, Unity Catalog privileges. Support compliance and governance across cloud data services and SQL Server environments. 15%
Troubleshooting & Operational Support :
Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, working closely with the IT team to troubleshoot and minimize disruptions. 10%
Documentation, Standards, & Best Practices :
Maintain documentation of environments, policies, network architecture, data access patterns, and cluster standards. Desired Technical Experience (Not All Required) Managing SQL Server, SQL Agent jobs, SQL table and index maintenance, performance monitoring, and management Experience with Cloud data platforms, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Snowflake, RedShift Experience with cloud computing, Infrastructure-as-a-service, and cloud networking concepts Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as SolarWinds and Azure Monitor Understanding of data ingestion and transformation (ETL/ELT) concepts and data lifecycle Experience with Data analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Job Specific Requirements Demonstrable competency with backups, restores, and recovery models Knowledge of cloud compute and networking concepts (VNet integration, private endpoints, firewall rules) Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the Club's success Strong time-management/organizational, interpersonal, & communication skills Demonstrated curiosity and a strong desire to learn and adopt new technologies Critical thinker and adept problem-solving skills while maintaining a team-focused/collaborative mindset Ability to follow established standards and contribute to continuous improvement Clear written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative team approach Qualifications Bachelor's or better in Computer Science or related field.
