Job Description:
We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to support the day-to-day operations and physical infrastructure of a complex data center environment. This role is ideal for someone with experience in data center operations, structured cabling, hardware deployments, and infrastructure troubleshooting who enjoys working directly with critical systems and onsite teams. Key Responsibilities Monitor and respond to data center incidents, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, manage ticket queues, and support shift handovers. Install, decommission, relocate, and reconfigure data center equipment, including servers, network devices, and rack infrastructure. Support data center activities such as hardware deployments, rack-and-stack, cabling projects, power-down events, and vendor coordination. Perform and maintain Layer 1 infrastructure activities involving copper and fiber optic cabling, patch panels, optical transceivers, and connectivity testing. Maintain accurate documentation, including rack elevations, cabling diagrams, inventory records, and operational procedures. Collaborate with engineers, service owners, vendors, and cross-functional teams to execute infrastructure changes and improvements. Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to team knowledge sharing and operational excellence. Required Qualifications 1-3+ years of experience deploying, maintaining, or supporting data center environments. Hands-on experience with structured cabling, including copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber optic (single-mode and multi-mode) infrastructure. Knowledge of data center infrastructure components, including
LAN/WAN/SAN
environments, servers (Windows/Linux/Unix), storage systems, firewalls, wireless technologies, and rack equipment. Understanding of industry standards related to structured cabling and data centers, such as TIA-568, TIA-942, IEEE, NEC, and ISO standards. Basic understanding of network concepts, including VLANs, SNMP, ICMP, and common communication protocols. Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, onsite data center environment. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, Telecommunications, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of data center operations or infrastructure experience. Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, BICSI, CDCP, or other relevant data center/network certifications. Exposure to automation tools, APIs, scripting, or CI/CD concepts. Experience supporting power, cooling, physical security, and other critical data center facility systems.
