Job Description:
Overview Seeking experienced Fiber Optic Technicians with 3+ years of data center or network facility experience to perform fiber circuit audits, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation in active data center environments. Candidates must be able to work independently and accurately validate, clean, inspect, and troubleshoot fiber circuits. Key Responsibilities Perform fiber circuit audits across multiple DMARC locations. Clean, inspect, and scope fiber end-faces using industry-standard tools. Conduct light level testing using optical power meters and light sources (1310nm & 1550nm). Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues and distinguish contamination from physical damage. Validate circuit polarity and connectivity. Document test results, pass/fail outcomes, and corrective actions using customer applications. Scan and validate cable barcodes. Escalate unresolved issues following established procedures. Follow all ESD, PPE, and site safety requirements. Required Skills & Experience 3+ years of hands-on fiber optic experience in data centers, network rooms, or secure facilities. Experience with LC, SC, and MPO/MTP fiber connectors. Knowledge of DMARC environments and fiber circuit validation.
Experience using:
Fiber inspection scopes/video probes Optical Power Meters (OPM) Light Sources (1310nm/1550nm) Fiber cleaning tools and techniques Ability to troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults. Experience with mobile/web-based logging applications and ticketing systems. Strong documentation and reporting skills. Preferred Qualifications OTDR testing experience (1310nm & 1550nm). Experience in hyperscale or large-scale data centers. Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing tools. Knowledge of
IEC 61300-3-35
fiber cleanliness standards. Training or lead technician experience. Tools & Equipment Fiber inspection scope/video probe Optical power meter and light source Fiber cleaning kits (wet & dry) Bluetooth barcode scanner IR polarity card Safety Requirements ESD compliance experience required. Must adhere to PPE and site safety standards. Experience working in restricted or secure facilities preferred.
