Job Description

Role Overview We are seeking a Data Center Engineer - Mission Critical to support the operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of a high-availability data center environment. This role is hands-on and technical, focused on electrical, mechanical, and infrastructure systems that support 24x7 uptime in a mission-critical facility. The ideal candidate has strong experience in critical facilities operations , understands redundancy and fault-tolerant design, and is comfortable responding to incidents, performing root cause analysis, and supporting maintenance and expansion activities. Key Responsibilities Data Center & Facilities Operations Operate and maintain mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems , including: UPS systems Generators Switchgear PDUs
HVAC / CRAC / CRAH
systems Monitor facility systems using
BMS / EPMS / DCIM
platforms Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure maximum uptime Support incident response , troubleshooting, and escalation during alarms or outages Reliability & Performance Maintain compliance with redundancy standards (N+1, 2N, etc.) Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and document corrective actions Support capacity planning, load balancing, and system optimization Participate in testing events, including generator load tests and failover exercises Projects & Engineering Support Support new deployments, expansions, and retrofits Assist with commissioning and validation activities Review MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders Safety & Compliance Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements Ensure compliance with internal standards and external audits Maintain accurate documentation and operational logs Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in a mission-critical data center, critical facilities, or similar high-availability environment Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, and cooling systems Ability to read and interpret on-line diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation Experience working in a 24x7 operational environment Comfortable with on-call rotation and after-hours incident response Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent experience Experience in hyperscale or colocation data centers Familiarity with commissioning processes Experience with DCIM, BMS, or EPMS platforms Certifications such as: Uptime Institute (ATD, AOS) Electrical or mechanical trade certifications OEM training (UPS, generators, HVAC) System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
