Job Description

Low Voltage Technician - Government & Data Center Division Join a Team Building Mission-Critical Infrastructure We are seeking motivated, professional, and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technicians to join our growing team supporting government facilities, hyperscale data centers, and mission-critical infrastructure projects across the United States. This position is ideal for technicians who take pride in high-quality workmanship, professionalism, safety, and technical excellence in fast-paced environments where precision and reliability matter. Our company specializes in structured cabling, fiber optics, security systems, VESDA systems, access control, and critical infrastructure deployments supporting commercial, industrial, federal, and data center clients. Position Summary The Low Voltage Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of low voltage systems within commercial, industrial, government, and data center environments. Technicians will work alongside project managers, foremen, and field leadership to ensure all installations are completed in accordance with customer requirements, NEC standards, manufacturer specifications, and mission-critical operational procedures. Candidates must be capable of maintaining professionalism in secure and high-security environments while delivering high-quality installations under strict deadlines and operational standards. Primary Responsibilities Install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot : Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling Fiber optic cabling and backbone systems CCTV systems Access control systems Telecommunication systems Network infrastructure VESDA and low voltage life safety systems Read and interpret: Blueprints Schematics Wiring diagrams Floor plans Scope documentation
Perform:
Fiber splicing Cable pathway installation Rack and stack installation Equipment mounting Cable management Device troubleshooting Testing and certification Work with: Cisco network hardware Juniper systems VoIP systems Avaya platforms Ethernet infrastructure Data center containment systems Maintain clean and organized work areas in mission-critical environments Follow all: OSHA safety requirements Customer security protocols Data center operational procedures ESD protection requirements Lockout/Tagout awareness procedures Provide professional communication with: Clients Site personnel Project management Government representatives Data center operations teams Preferred Qualifications We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following: Structured cabling installations Fiber optic installations and splicing Data center infrastructure deployments Government or military projects Security and access control systems CCTV systems Mission-critical environments Live data center environments Telecommunications infrastructure Required Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician in commercial or industrial environments Strong understanding of: LAN/WAN networking Telecommunications systems Fiber optic systems Ethernet infrastructure Data center operations Ability to: Read schematics and blueprints Troubleshoot low voltage systems Operate hand and power tools safely Use testing and certification equipment Work independently and within teams Knowledge of NEC standards related to low voltage installations Ability to maintain professionalism in secure facilities and mission-critical environments Preferred Certifications Preferred certifications include: OSHA 10 or
OSHA 30 BICSI
Installer Certifications FOA Fiber Certifications Manufacturer Certifications Lift Certifications CPR/First Aid Security Clearance Eligibility Government & Data Center Requirements Candidates assigned to government or secure facilities may be required to: Pass background investigations Complete drug screening Obtain site badging Meet customer-specific access requirements Maintain confidentiality standards Follow strict security procedures Experience working in secure government facilities or live data centers is highly preferred.
