Job Summary:
Our client, a leading technology infrastructure organization, is seeking a Data Center Technician to join their operations team. In this role, you will support critical data center functions, including server hardware troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and inventory management in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and technically skilled, with the ability to diagnose hardware issues, follow structured procedures (SOPs), and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and uptime. Data Center Technician I Location:
Boardman, OR (100% onsite)
Employment Type:
Contract (6-24 months, potential extension/conversion)
Pay:
$27/hour Schedule 4-day work week (10-hour shifts) Flexible shifts including nights: Sun-Wed or Wed-Sat 6:00 AM•4:30 PM or 7:30 AM•6:00
PM Training:
Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM•4:00 PM (first 2 weeks) May require holiday work (regular pay) Role Overview We are hiring a Data Center Technician I to support a high-availability cloud infrastructure environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on server hardware troubleshooting, installations, repairs, and data center operations . You will act as a frontline resolver , responsible for diagnosing hardware issues, performing repairs, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting uptime in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. Key Responsibilities Hardware & Server Support Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server hardware issues (CPU, memory, storage, power components) Perform hardware replacements, upgrades, and system repairs Execute system builds, installations, and decommissions Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on failures to prevent recurrence Perform testing using diagnostic tools and validation systems Data Center Operations Install, rack, stack, and cable servers and networking equipment Support high-severity (priority) incidents to minimize downtime Maintain uptime and reliability through timely resolution of support tickets Follow strict SOPs, escalation procedures, and safety protocols Inventory & Asset Management Receive, track, and manage hardware inventory and spare parts Maintain accurate records in WMS/ticketing systems Handle secure media and ensure compliance with data destruction policies Participate in audits of hardware and storage assets Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues (TCP/IP, cabling, ports) Install and configure networking equipment (switches, routers, patch panels) Support system upgrades, firmware updates, and OS-level tasks (Linux basics) Documentation & Reporting Document troubleshooting steps, repairs, and resolutions in ticketing systems Maintain detailed service logs and asset updates Track performance against ticket queues and SLAs Collaborate with Network Engineers, SREs, and Infrastructure teams Escalate complex issues appropriately Participate in team meetings, KPI reviews, and continuous improvement efforts Compliance & Safety
