Database Administrator 3

Overview:

ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Database Administrator 3 will support high-availability Oracle database environments by developing and standardizing deployment and troubleshooting procedures, performing vulnerability assessments, and providing escalation support for performance and availability issues. Will design and support disaster recovery, backup/restore validation, and data protection activities while recommending process improvements to optimize performance, capacity, and efficiency. Operate Oracle environments using OEM 13c/24ai and related technologies (ASM, AWR, RMAN, Linux), and serve as a technical advisor across projects and service responses. Requires 10+ years of Oracle database administration on Linux, 5+ years troubleshooting Linux/Windows systems, and experience with automation scripting, TCP/IP, RAC, and Exadata. Must have strong experience supporting production workloads, enterprise scheduling systems, and preference for Perl, Puppet Enterprise, and advanced SQL/RAC expertise. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA.

Responsibilities:

Research, test, document, and develop standardized technical procedures for the deployment / troubleshooting of server hardware (or virtual machines), the associated operating systems and application software. Perform system vulnerability assessments using vendor native (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and third-party tools (Nessus), recommending mitigation options based on risk of exploitation after consideration of environmental factors. Serve as a service response escalation point, working with teams of varying technical ability in response to service availability and/or performance related incidents/problems. Provide recommendations for process/procedural changes that may become necessary due to environmental changes, upgrades. Support the design and implementation of highly available database solutions appropriate for workloads based on customer requirements. Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations through continuous verification of availability mechanisms and management of data protection activities (including backup and restore testing). Serve as a technical advisor for project and service response and related tasks. Operate a production Oracle Database environment using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c or 24ai Grid Control. Provide recommendations for process improvements and technical solutions that can be integrated into existing environments surrounding performance, operational efficiency, and capacity. Apply the processes/procedures in support of the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Oracle Enterprise Linux (as it pertains to Oracle DB) Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management) ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor) and AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c or 24ai Recovery Manager (RMAN) Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Share and disperse documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know). Mark and maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures. Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in information technology (or closely related technical discipline) is preferred. 10+ years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree. 15+ years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree. Experience should include directly related IT infrastructure administration. 10+ years of knowledge and experience sufficient to administer Oracle 19c/23ai on a Linux platform. 5+ years of knowledge and experience sufficient to successfully troubleshoot Linux and Windows operating systems using text-based logs, Windows event logs, and various utilities as it pertains to support of Oracle Database services. 5+ years knowledge of and experience building tools for other administrators to use and automating operations with scripting tools such as shell scripting, perl, or PowerShell. 5+ years of knowledge of and experience with TCP/IP and related services. Direct experience supporting production workloads using Oracle RAC. Direct experience managing Oracle ExaData operations including patch management. Direct experience working with an enterprise scheduling system. Experience with Perl is highly preferred. Experience configuring and managing systems using Puppet Enterprise. Expert level knowledge/certification for SQL and/or Real Application Clusters . Valid U.S. Driver's License is required. Work sponsorship is not available at this time.
