Position Overview JEDA is seeking a Senior IT Field Engineer with strong on-site data center experience to lead enterprise-scale IT infrastructure deployments. This role combines advanced hands-on technical expertise with strategic oversight, project leadership, and client-facing responsibilities. The Senior IT Field Engineer will serve as a technical authority, mentor junior engineers, and ensure successful delivery of complex deployments across commercial, data center, and customer environments. This position is ideal for candidates with extensive hands-on experience working inside live data center environments , strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in enterprise IT projects who are ready to take ownership of large-scale infrastructure initiatives. Direct experience performing on-site work within data centers — including rack-and-stack deployments, structured cabling, hardware installations, and infrastructure troubleshooting — is required for this role. Due to the nature of our projects, this role requires up to 80% travel annually to customer sites and data center facilities across the United States. This will be outside your home location. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Project Management Lead planning, deployment, and troubleshooting of enterprise IT infrastructure projects. Serve as primary technical point of contact for clients during on-site and remote engagements. Oversee rack-and-stack operations, structured cabling installations, and data center deployments. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure network design, cabling, and server configurations meet project requirements. Mentor and guide junior field technicians and engineers to develop technical proficiency and operational best practices. Enterprise Technical Execution Install, configure, and maintain servers, switches, routers, and enterprise hardware. Execute advanced structured cabling tasks (copper, fiber, hybrid) including testing, labeling, and certification. Perform network patching, port mapping, and validate connectivity per engineering diagrams and cut sheets. Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and network issues across Layer 1-3. Manage equipment moves, adds, changes (MACs), and decommissioning in data center environments. Client Interaction & Strategic Support Build strong client relationships and provide recommendations for infrastructure optimization and best practices. Document technical processes, operational procedures, and deployment notes for executive review. Ensure solutions align with client requirements and industry standards. Compliance & Safety Adhere to change management processes, safety protocols, and site access procedures. Maintain compliance with corporate and client-specific operational policies. Required Experience & Skills 5+ years of hands-on enterprise IT infrastructure experience. 3+ years of direct on-site data center experience supporting hardware deployments, rack-and-stack installations, or smart hands operations. Advanced knowledge of servers, networking, and structured cabling systems. Proven ability to manage enterprise deployments independently and lead field teams. Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills. Proficiency with CLI for Linux, networking equipment, and server hardware consoles. Experience in data center operations, including hot/cold aisle, raised-floor, and cage deployments. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely work at heights. Willingness to travel locally and nationally. Valid U.S. driver's license and U.S. citizenship.
