Job Description
Applications Administrator (Systems & Database
- Senior) Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Senior Application Administrator to deliver advanced, hands-on support for enterprise applications within our IT Customer Portfolio.
Work model:
Hybrid (up to 2 days remote / 3 days on-site)What You'll Do:
Provide advanced administration and operational support for Linux-based enterprise applications Support Oracle Utilities platforms (C2M, CCB, MDM) across the Meter-to-Cash lifecycle Troubleshoot and resolve complex cross-stack issues; escalate strategically when needed Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation (every ~5-6 weeks) to ensure system continuity Perform routine and advanced maintenance, including: Patching and minor upgrades Backups, restorations, and environment cloning Configuration updates and deployment support Administer and troubleshoot application servers such as WebLogic, Tomcat, Jetty, or similar Support batch processing, job scheduling, and integrations to ensure reliability Conduct performance analysis and tuning; identify bottlenecks and partner on solutions Investigate recurring issues and drive long-term stability improvements Maintain runbooks, documentation, and operational procedures Follow established change, incident, and support processes while collaborating with peersWho You Are:
A hands-on technical expert who enjoys solving complex production challenges Calm and methodical under pressure, especially during high-impact incidents Independent yet collaborative within a structured operational model Detail-oriented with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and consistency Clear communicator who can translate technical findings effectivelyRequired Skills & Experience:
Strong experience in Linux-based application administration Proven track record supporting enterprise production systems Experience with Oracle databases (SQL troubleshooting, performance analysis) Hands-on experience with Java application servers (WebLogic, Tomcat, Jetty, etc.) Background in application maintenance, patching, and operational support Understanding of batch processing, scheduling, and system integrations Familiarity with structured support processes and documentation standards Exposure to Git/GitHub for version controlQualifications:
3-5+ years of experience in application, systems, or database administration Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience Experience supporting business-critical, high-availability systems Prior participation in an on-call production environment Strong grasp of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution Preferred/Nice toHave:
Experience with Oracle Utilities (C2M, CCB, MDM) Cross-stack performance tuning (application, middleware, database) Scripting/automation (Shell, Python, etc.) Monitoring, alerting, and log analysis tools Background in utilities, regulated industries, or large enterprise environmentsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
