Salary :
Maximum 130K per annum which includes 10% Variable pay.
Role Summary:
The DBA will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining database clusters in Linux operating systems that are used by different groups of applications.
The DBA must have advanced knowledge of Unix systems and shell scripting/ Python. Experience and knowledge of some of NoSQL or distributed databases such as (Cassandra, CockroachDB, Postgres) is needed including creation and implementation of fully functional database clusters, ability to maintain multiple development, QA and production environments with strong experience in operations and production support.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing day-to-day administration support and maintenance for existing and new distributed databases in production and non-production environments.
Perform debugging, tuning and performance enhancement as well as automation of operational and continuous integration aspect of the database platform.
Write shell scripts for automation of installation and support of distributed databases.
Working with using DevOps tools like Ansible, BladeLogic to create, maintain and execute jobs.
Identify inefficiencies in current databases and implement improved solutions
Assist in planning and implementing capacity and resource expansion to ensure scalability of company databases.
Assist developers in making changes to the schema, providing database access levels, etc
Assist in planning and performing database upgrades and migrations

Required Experience:
Requires related experience in the UNIX systems and shell scripting, design, maintenance, and administration of distributed databases ( CockroachDB, Cassandra, Postgres etc.).
Conversant with using DevOps tools like BladeLogic, Ansible etc.
Previous experience in high volume environments is highly desired.
Deep understanding of cluster management areas, such as adding/ removing nodes, consistency tuning, replication, and multi-DC configuration etc.
Strong experience in UNIX/Linux with advanced knowledge of Shell scripting
Strong experience in NoSQL or SQL Database Technologies

We have an immediate opportunity for a CockroachDB DBA in Chandler, AZ. This hybrid position is ideal for an experienced database professional with strong expertise in distributed database technologies, UNIX/Linux administration, and automation. The compensation for this role is up to $130K per annum, inclusive of a 10% variable pay component.
The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, administering, and supporting distributed database clusters across production and non-production environments. To be successful in this position, one needs to be highly skilled in CockroachDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, or similar distributed database platforms, with the ability to build and maintain highly available, scalable database environments. The role involves database performance tuning, troubleshooting, automation of operational processes, cluster management, schema support, capacity planning, and database upgrades and migrations. The individual will work closely with application development and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience with UNIX/Linux systems administration, advanced Shell scripting and Python development, and hands-on experience using DevOps tools such as Ansible and BladeLogic. A deep understanding of distributed database concepts including node management, replication, consistency tuning, high availability, and multi-data-center configurations is required. Experience supporting high-volume production environments and implementing automation for installation, monitoring, and operational support will be highly valued.
