Database Administrator:
On behalf of our Technology client, Procom is searching for a Database Administrator for a long-term role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client's Austin office. Database Administrator -
Job Description:
As a Database Administrator, you will support enterprise database modernization, cloud migration, and DevOps initiatives. This role will focus on deploying, configuring, and maintaining database environments while ensuring the successful migration of data from legacy platforms into modern cloud-based architectures. Database Administrator -
Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and configure database environments based on established application and infrastructure requirements.
  • Execute full and incremental data migrations from legacy and heterogeneous systems into cloud-based MySQL environments.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines to facilitate scalable data movement and transformation.
  • Automate database provisioning and configuration through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • Monitor and maintain database performance, availability, and reliability across various environments.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, optimize queries, and improve overall system performance.
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, including user access management and encryption.
Database Administrator -
Mandatory Skills:
  • Experience administering MySQL databases, preferably within Amazon RDS and/or Aurora environments.
  • Hands-on experience migrating data from legacy or heterogeneous systems into cloud-based platforms.
  • Strong background in ETL development, data transformation, and data validation.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform.
  • Advanced SQL skills with MySQL.
  • Strong experience in database performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and architecture.
Database Administrator -
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience with Amazon Aurora (MySQL-compatible).
  • Experience supporting multiple database technologies, including SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools such as Git and CI/CD frameworks.
  • Experience integrating databases with monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch.
  • Scripting and automation experience using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
