Bachelor's Degree preferred ________________________________________ Overview Seeking a PostgreSQL DBA to support a mission-focused Air Force program. This role is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing PostgreSQL environments that support critical systems. The position operates in a controlled, compliance-driven environment and requires both hands-on technical expertise and the ability to support production operations. ________________________________________ Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database environments across multiple systems
  • Monitor database performance and perform tuning, indexing, and query optimization
  • Design and manage database schema, tables, and storage structures
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
  • Ensure high availability through replication, clustering, and failover configurations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues and system outages
  • Manage database security including user access, roles, permissions, and auditing
  • Support patching, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of database systems
  • Collaborate with developers and system engineers to support application performance and integration
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting tools
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Support compliance requirements in a secure DoD environment ________________________________________ Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 5+ years of PostgreSQL database administration experience
  • Strong experience with: o SQL and query performance tuning o Backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies o Linux-based server environments
  • Experience supporting production systems with high availability requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database and system issues ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoD or Air Force programs
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, or similar compliance standards
  • Experience with: o PostgreSQL replication and clustering o Cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) o Scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or DevOps-driven environments ________________________________________ Work Environment
