JOB SUMMARY

Vaco is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a 9M+ Contract (potential conversion to fulltime) that is 100% remote. The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a Data Center engineer in a large, complex environment, contributing to multiple simultaneous work streams. The Senior Network Engineer will apply hands-on expertise in Arista / Cisco platforms, strong BGP implementation and troubleshooting, colo experience, and automation capabilities to support network operations and scalability. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will benefit from nice-to-have experience in Palo Alto Networks and SD-WAN solutions (Viptela / Silver Peak).

• Large-Scale Data Center and/or Colo Environment | EOS-based Switches 7000 / 7200 / 7300 | Configure / Troubleshoot Features | VLANs / VXLAN/EVPN Overlays / MLAG/vPC (Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation) / Arista (CloudVision for Management / Observability) | High-Density 100G/400G Leaf-Spine Fabrics / Low Latency Designs / Multi-Vendor Integrations Cisco Data Center / Routing Platforms
• Nexus Series (9000 / 7000 / 5000 for switching) / Catalyst (Campus / Edge) / ASR (WAN Routing) | High-Availability Designs / Fabric Pathing / Troubleshooting Mixed Cisco-Ariba Envrionment in Large Enterprise and/or Colo BGP (advanced)
• Designing / Implementing Route Policies / Prefix-Lists / Route-Maps / Communities / AS-Path Manipulation / Convergence Optimization / Multi-Homing / Peering (with ISPs / Other DCs, etc.) | Scaling BGP in Large Fabrics (Thousands of Routes / EVPN Control Plane with BGP) | Expertise in Troubleshooting Flap Damping / Route Leaks / Blackholing / Performance Issues in Production Colo Facilities
• Equinix / Digital Realty / CoreSite | Coordinate Rack-and-Stack / Power/Cabling/Cross-Connect Management / Managing MMR (Meet-Me Rooms) / Low-Latency/Dark Fiber Interconnects / Space/Power Constraints / Remote Hands Support | Integration into Multi-Tenant / Hybrid Environments | Manage Turn-Ups / Migrations / Troubleshooting in Shared Colo Environments Network Automation (hands-on)
• Python / Bash / PowerShell | Ansible for Configuration Management / Provisioning | APIs for Programmatic Control (Arista eAPI / Cisco NX-API) | Bulk Config Deployment / Compliance Checks / Data Center Provisioning / Monitoring Integration / IaC Workflows | Scaling Operations Across Multiple Workstreams without Manual Repetition Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
