Senior SQL Database Administrator & Developer (Quantitative Systems)

Up to $180k + Discretionary Bonus (up to 20%)
Education Requirement:
Master's Degree (Mandatory) Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled SQL DBA & Developer to manage and enhance the database platform supporting our quantitative investment applications. This is a hybrid role that demands a rare blend of deep administrative expertise and hands-on development capabilities. You will be responsible for the architecture, performance, security, and lifecycle management of critical production databases, ensuring high availability for our portfolio management and trading systems.
Key Responsibilities Platform Management:
Oversee database disaster recovery, high availability, and the installation/upgrades of SQL Server instances across development, QA, and production environments.
System Development:
Design and develop database structures (tables, views, stored procedures, functions) and system interfaces required for new quantitative system functionality.
Performance & Reliability:
Perform rigorous data analysis, SQL optimization, database tuning, and general reliability analysis to ensure high performance.
Operational Excellence:
Proactively monitor systems to ensure secure, 24/7 operations; manage security patching and oversee data processing workflows.
Collaboration:
Act as a subject matter expert for the development team, providing guidance on table design, index optimization, and best practices for SQL queries.
Release Management:
Facilitate the implementation and release of database changes within a multi-user production environment.
Required Qualifications Education:
Master's Degree (Required).
Experience:
5+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience. 5+ years of SQL Development (packages, procedures, triggers, scripting) in a multi-user production environment.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience with SQL Server High Availability (HA) configurations and Disaster Recovery (DR). Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable database architecture.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and collaborative skills; ability to work effectively across the system development lifecycle. Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)
Programming:
Significant experience with C or C++ .
Financial Domain:
Experience with equity market data platforms (S&P Global, Bloomberg, LSEG/Refinitiv, FactSet, etc.).
