Job Description Data Center Field Engineer / Project Engineer - Hyperscale Construction Spartanburg, SC Join Next Level Technician as a Data Center Field Engineer / Project Engineer in Spartanburg, SC! Position Summary The Data Center Field Engineer / Project Engineer is responsible for supporting hyperscale data center construction projects through detailed coordination, documentation control, and field execution support. This role provides both technical and administrative support to Site Project Managers and field teams while helping manage RFIs, submittals, redlines, as-builts, testing documentation, and turnover deliverables. This position plays a critical role in commissioning readiness and milestone-driven delivery, including Infra Ready for Commissioning (Cx) and MMR turnover. This is a strong growth opportunity for candidates looking to advance into Project Manager roles within mission-critical construction. Responsibilities Support Site Project Managers and Senior Project Managers by bridging technical and administrative gaps on active hyperscale data center projects Maintain daily field presence to resolve issues and support Foremen and field crews Manage RFIs, submittals, redlines, as-builts, and field documentation for accuracy and timely response Identify and escalate design conflicts, constructability issues, and scope discrepancies early Coordinate quality inspections, punch walks, and commissioning readiness activities Track and validate test results and Infra Ready for Commissioning deliverables Interface with client engineers and construction representatives regarding testing progress and milestone readiness Track installation progress, material alignment, and field changes with Foremen, QA/QC, and documentation teams Support cost control, forecasting, billing, and change order development by validating quantities and labor impacts Work closely with engineering, BIM/VDC, PMO, and preconstruction teams to close technical gaps and support project turnover Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (equivalent field experience considered) 1-3 years of experience in construction engineering, project engineering, or project support Internship or co-op experience acceptable for strong entry-level candidates Strong understanding of data center construction workflows and documentation control Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, redlines, as-builts, and turnover documentation Familiarity with commissioning processes and milestone-driven project delivery Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and Division 27/28 systems Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Clear and professional communication skills with field teams and client stakeholders Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, and project tracking tools OSHA 10 required Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30 Certification Working knowledge of Division 27/28 systems including structured cabling, OSP, splicing, security, and DAS/BDA EIT, FE, or PMP-track credentials Experience with BIM/VDC coordination Previous hyperscale or mission-critical construction experience Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction job sites daily Ability to climb ladders and navigate data center construction environments Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Ability to perform extended computer-based documentation work Comfortable working in both field and office environments Why Work with Next Level Technician in Spartanburg, SC?
