Position Overview We are seeking motivated Fiber Technician Apprentices to train alongside experienced fiber technicians within active data center environments. This role is designed for individuals looking to build a long-term career in fiber optics, structured cabling, and data center infrastructure. Apprentices will receive hands-on training in installation practices, testing procedures, safety standards, and documentation processes while supporting live projects. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, dependable, coachable, and ready to work in a fast-paced team environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Fiber Technicians with:
  • Fiber installations
  • Cable routing
  • Labeling
  • Pathway preparation
  • Rack and cabinet organization
  • Learn proper handling and installation techniques for fiber optic cabling
  • Support testing teams by preparing documentation and organizing materials
  • Maintain clean work areas and follow site housekeeping standards
  • Assist with pulling fiber through trays, conduit, and pathways
  • Learn structured cabling standards and best practices
  • Observe and assist with OTDR and power meter testing
  • Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements
  • Participate in daily team meetings and production updates
  • Complete required onboarding and safety training Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Strong willingness to learn and take direction
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Comfortable working in physically active environments
  • Ability to work on ladders and lifts
  • Basic computer and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous construction, warehouse, low-voltage, or telecom experience
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and cable management
  • Interest in long-term growth within telecom or data center infrastructure Growth Opportunity This position is designed as a direct growth path into a Fiber Technician role. Apprentices will receive hands-on exposure to:
  • Fiber optic installation
  • Testing and troubleshooting
  • Structured cabling systems
  • Data center operations
  • Documentation and validation processes Successful apprentices will have opportunities for advancement into Fiber Technician and specialty roles as experience develops. Key Traits We re Looking For
