Job Description

Data Center Engineer Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Center Engineer to design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure systems for data center facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background with specific experience in mission-critical environments, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and efficiency of data center operations. Key Responsibilities Design, engineer, and oversee data center infrastructure projects including power, cooling, fire suppression, and security systems Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents for data center facilities Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices (Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, TIA-942, etc.) Conduct site assessments, capacity planning, and infrastructure audits Monitor and optimize data center performance, energy efficiency, and PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) Troubleshoot and resolve critical infrastructure issues to minimize downtime Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams during design and construction phases Perform commissioning and testing of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and procedures Support capacity management and forecasting for power, cooling, and space Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure Ensure redundancy requirements and Tier level standards are met Participate in incident response and root cause analysis Maintain documentation including as-builts, SOPs, and maintenance records Support change management processes for infrastructure modifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline At least 2-5 years of experience in data center design, construction, or operations Strong knowledge of critical infrastructure systems (UPS, generators, CRAC/CRAH units, PDUs, etc.) Understanding of data center standards and tier classifications Experience with MEP systems in mission-critical environments Proficiency with design and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) Strong project management and coordination skills Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Skills Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications DCCP (Data Center Certified Professional) or similar certification Experience with modular/prefabricated data center solutions Knowledge of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) platforms Experience with hyperscale or colocation data centers Understanding of networking and IT infrastructure Familiarity with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability practices Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) Background in commissioning or critical facilities management
