Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical data center infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Your expertise in network systems, cabling, and equipment repair will be vital in supporting our mission to deliver reliable data services. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and Ethernet switches such as Cat5 and Cat6 cabling. Perform fiber splicing and cable management for high-speed data transmission systems. Conduct routine inspections of data center equipment using schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot issues effectively. Repair and replace computer hardware components, telecommunication devices, and low voltage electrical systems utilizing hand tools and power tools. Monitor CCTV systems for security purposes and assist with field service tasks related to infrastructure maintenance. Support telephony systems including VoIP solutions such as Avaya, ensuring seamless communication channels. Assist with network installation projects, including cabling, equipment setup, and system testing in accordance with NEC standards. Use testing tools such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical issues and ensure proper grounding and power distribution. Collaborate with team members on service technician tasks related to LAN/WAN networks, equipment repair, and system upgrades. Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed using schematics and technical manuals for future reference. Skills Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, Ethernet protocols, and network security fundamentals. Experience with telecommunication systems such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and telephony infrastructure like Avaya systems. Proficiency in fiber splicing techniques and cabling standards including Cat5, Cat6 cables, and associated connectors. Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper networking equipment, and network installation procedures. Hands-on experience with CCTV surveillance systems for security monitoring within a data center environment. Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and electrical blueprints accurately. Skilled in the use of hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers) and power tools necessary for equipment installation and repair. Electrical experience related to low voltage wiring, NEC compliance standards, and power distribution systems. Service technician experience in maintaining data center hardware or telecommunication infrastructure is highly preferred. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
