Job Description
Database Administrator Introduction The Database Administrator will be responsible for leading end-to-end migrations between SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB environments to AWS Cloud. This role involves performing schema conversion, data mapping, ETL processes, and optimizing database performance. The Database Administrator will work closely with application teams to ensure successful migration and provide ongoing support. Responsibilities Lead database migrations between SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB environments Perform schema conversion, datatype mapping, and index strategy redesign Execute data extraction, transformation, and loading using ETL tools Validate data integrity and optimize database performance Install, configure, and manage MongoDB, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL instances Monitor system health and troubleshoot performance issues Collaborate with application teams on migration impact and rollback strategies Produce detailed runbooks, migration plans, and post-migration reports Support UAT, cutover rehearsals, and production go-live events Requirements Required Skills Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB 4.x/5.x, SQL Server 2016+, and PostgreSQL 12+ Expertise in SQL, PL/pgSQL, T-SQL, and MongoDB query language Deep understanding of replication, clustering, sharding, and HA/DR strategies Experience with Linux, Windows Server, and cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, MongoDB Atlas) Proficiency with migration tools such as pgloader, Ora2Pg, AWS DMS, SSIS, custom Python/Shell scripts Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving capability Clear communication and documentation discipline Ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions and migration workshops
Preferred Qualifications Certifications:
MongoDB DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL Professional, or cloud database certifications Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, Terraform, Ansible, or containerized database deployments Exposure to event-driven architectures and data pipelines (Kafka, Spark, Debezium) Bachelor''s Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent in a related field
