Job Description
Tech - IT Data Center Energy Transfer LP United States, Texas, Houston May 15, 2026 We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for full-time work in Houston Texas. This is an on-site position supporting mission-critical infrastructure at a corporate data center. The IT Data Center Services Technician's primary job function is to serve as a team leader over the 24x7 facilities operations and maintenance at the Energy Transfer Data Center and the Alternate Control Center. This includes all aspects of the facility such as facility structure, facility grounds, electrical systems (Utility, UPS & Standby Generators), mechanical systems, HVAC systems, and all general controls through the building automation system. This technician will also be personally responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing the preventive maintenance of all the critical electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems at ETDC and ACC. In addition, the IT Data Center Services Technician will also be a part of the after-hours & weekend on-call rotation to resolve electrical, mechanical and HVAC emergency issues at the facilities. This IT Data Center Services Technician will also assist the Data Center Operations Manager by serving as a team member during Capital and O&M project at the Energy Transfer Data Center and Alternate Control Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Maintenance- Regularly scheduled rounds for all facility equipment at both
ETDC & ACC.
- Normal, UPS & Standby Electrical Power Maintenance and Repairs.
- Chillers, Cooling Towers & Pumps Maintenance and Repairs.
- Computer Room & Office Air Handler Units Regular Maintenance and Repairs.
- Trouble-shoot and perform daily repairs on facilities common areas and grounds.
- Coordinate, Scheduled & Implement Preventive Maintenance on all Facilities Equipment as needed.
- Daily Monitoring of Computrols Building Automation System.
Equipment Used:
Desktop & Laptop Computers. Electrical Multi-Meters. Electrically Powered and Non-Powered Hand Tools. Electrically Powered and Non-Powered Equipment.Working Conditions:
Normal Work Week M-F 8 hours/ day. After-hours, Weekends, and Inclement Weather as needed. Ability to participate in materials lifting and moving up to 50 lbs. As required to work inside and outside the facility year around. Education, Experience and Skills High school diploma or equivalent and 0-2 years of relevant work experience Associate's degree or high school graduate with additional electrical, mechanical and refrigeration technical education preferred. Good written and communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience working in a facilities and critical data center environment. Ability to lead sub-contractors in large, medium, and small facility projects. 10+ years' experience in the operation and control of electrical distribution switchgear breakers, electrical power generators, generator paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, UPS Modules, Computer Room and Office Air Handlers, Power Distribution Units and A&B System Static Switches preferred. 10+ years' experience operating and controlling large refrigeration systems (Chillers) preferred. 10+ years' experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical & HVAC equipment in a facility, chiller plant, and UPS room preferred. 10+ years' experience working with Computrols building automation system. This includes installing and programming sensors into the system, as well as connecting new and existing equipment via modbus, backnet and other protocols preferred.Certification/Licenses:
BOMA Certification. State of Texas Electrical Maintenance License. Refrigeration License or Certificate.Similar remote jobs
