US-based candidates About the Client A large retail organization with a strong focus on financial and back-office reporting is modernizing its data platform. The team is actively migrating legacy reporting and ETL processes to a cloud-based data environment to support scalability and performance. Role Overview The Senior SQL Developer will play a key role in supporting and modernizing the client's reporting and data infrastructure. This role is split between maintaining existing SSRS reports and building new data pipelines and solutions in Snowflake. The ideal candidate is hands-on, performance-focused, and comfortable collaborating directly with business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain complex SQL queries and ETL data pipelines. Support and maintain existing SSRS financial and back-office reports (~30%). Lead new development and migration efforts in Snowflake (~70%). Optimize database and ETL performance for scalability and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional and business teams to gather requirements. Troubleshoot data quality, integrity, and pipeline performance issues. Document ETL workflows and technical processes. Contribute to ongoing platform modernization initiatives. Must-Have Qualifications 5-7+ years of experience as a SQL Developer writing complex, high-performance queries. Strong ETL development experience across multiple data sources. Hands-on experience with SSRS. Solid understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modeling. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, stakeholder-facing environment. Willingness to work onsite 5 days per week. Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, integrations). Azure experience, especially Azure Data Factory or similar ETL tools. Databricks exposure. Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines. Prior customer- or business-facing experience. Ideal Candidate Profile Comfortable balancing legacy system support with modern cloud development. Experienced in data platform migrations and modernization efforts. Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in an onsite environment. Strong problem-solver with a performance optimization mindset.
