electrical safety protocols Technical documentation Interpreting technical drawings Electrical metering Document review Commissioning phase involvement OEM Field commissioning Electrical systems commissioning Full Job Description Commissioning Field Engineer (Data Centers) EarthStream Global are seeking a Commissioning Field Engineer to support large-scale data center projects across Virginia. Overview You will be responsible for the testing, energisation, and commissioning of LV and MV electrical distribution systems in mission-critical environments. This includes working on switchgear, transformers, breakers, protective relays, UPS systems, and generators, ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and redundancy requirements. Key Responsibilities Execute pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing (IST) for data centre electrical infrastructure Perform testing in line with
NETA ATS/MTS
standards, project specifications, and safety requirements Conduct primary/secondary injection, insulation resistance, relay testing, and system verification Support black building tests, load bank testing, and failover scenarios Assist with commissioning documentation including plans, scripts, and test reports Review vendor documentation and support issue resolution during commissioning Collaborate with project teams, OEMs, and clients to ensure successful system handover Maintain compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, and site safety standards Requirements 5-10+ years of electrical experience (depending on education level) Proven experience in data center or mission-critical commissioning Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and testing methodologies Familiarity with NETA standards (essential), NEC, and
NFPA 70E
Experience using testing equipment (e.g., Megger, Omicron, Doble) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings NETA certification or OEM training (preferred) Valid U.S. work authorisation ES1

$75.00 - $85.00 per hour
