Job Description
This is not a remote position and moving assistance to relocate is not available. Coloinseattle is looking for an Internet Datacenter Technician position to support and run our day-to-day datacenter activities. You will be closely working with our Datacenter Infrastructure team and support team. This position requires individuals with self-starter attitude and a high sense of responsibility as you will be working on live Internet Servers. If you love playing with computer hardware (

Full-Time/Regular Typical Work Shift is either 4am to 4:30pm shift or 4pm to 4:30am. Monday-Wednesday with alternating Sunday or Thursday-Saturday with alternating Sunday. Shifts are subject to change from time to time. (normally with 2 weeks notice) Responsibilities- Support and Manage Coloinseattle Datacenter Operation and Infrastructure.
- Responsible for setting up new server builds, troubleshooting server hardware when a server stops working.
- Responsible for deploying datacenter related infrastructure such as server cabinets, power distribution units, KVM/IP, and running cabling (cat5, fiber, coax, etc).
- Interface with customers and provide top-notch and speedy customer service.
- Additional hours for emergencies are expected. (very rare)
- Additional hours for emergency coverage when team mates call in sick.
What this job is not:
- this is not a web development position. you will not be doing any coding.
- this is not a system administration or cyber-security job. You will not be managing operating systems or learn how to manage systems. You will just be building server hardware, installing OS in servers, IP'ing it so that its ssh'able or rdp'able and troubleshooting hardware issues. Our Sys-admin will take over once the server is online.
- this position does not have any path to becoming a sys-admin or network-admin, or cyber-security or coding technician. (CCNA, CCNP, Linux+, MCSE, MCSA is discouraged from applying)
- If you love assembling servers hardware, making cabling in server hardware neat, interested about how to maximize cooling in server hardware, building different types of server with different types of cases, fans, doing research and development on hardware related stuff, then we would love to hear from you. Qualifications
- Extremely customer service oriented.
- Extremely detailed oriented.
- You are someone who finds great pleasure to helping others in a genuine and authentic way.
- Have a "Yes I can" attitude.
- Follows direction well.
- Basic knowledge of different flavors of Operating Systems (unix/windows).
- Hardware knowledge and previous experience building server hardware.
- Must have excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Must be dependable with a great work ethic, demonstrated initiative, ownership of issues, and exceptional attitude.
- Highly flexible, adaptable, and able to deal with uncertainty in an extremely high-paced environment.
- Must be able to work well under directions from customers and team members while maintaining high ability to be able to work with little or no supervision.
- CompTIA A+ certified candidate is highly preferred. (but not required)
- Due to nature of heavy equipment, you must be able to lift at least 50lbs of equipment in awkward position.
- Candidate must own and be able to operate a motor vehicle as you will be supporting 3 different Coloinseattle Datacenters around Seattle Area.
