Job Description

[Leapros] Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (Fiber Splicers) in Cheyenne, WY. This position involves performing precision fiber splicing and testing within a data center environment located in Cheyenne, WY. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience with fusion splicing on high-density cables and is prepared to work a 6-10s schedule for the duration of an eight-month contract. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are highly preferred for this role.

Per Hour BOE Responsibilities:
Perform precision fusion splicing and termination of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. Conduct comprehensive fiber testing and certification using OTDRs, power meters, and light sources. Route, secure, and manage fiber cabling within data center racks, cabinets, and overhead tray systems. Maintain accurate documentation of fiber infrastructure, including labeling, test results, and splicing logs. Troubleshoot and resolve fiber connectivity issues, signal loss, and physical cable damage. Collaborate with project teams to meet deployment milestones while working a 6-10s schedule. Adhere to all site-specific security protocols, safety standards, and proper use of PPE. Support the installation and build-out of telecommunication rooms and high fiber-count cable systems.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and structured cabling, specifically within data center environments. Proficiency in operating fusion splicing equipment and specialized fiber testing tools like Fluke or OTDR meters. Ability to commit to an 8-month contract with a work schedule of six 10-hour shifts per week. Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred. Must be comfortable working as a traveler or local in the Cheyenne, WY area. Ability to read and interpret complex network diagrams, blueprints, and cable schedules. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on feet for the duration of 10-hour shifts. Comfortable working at heights on ladders and within confined or restricted spaces. Strong manual dexterity for handling and splicing small-diameter fiber optic strands. Ability to distinguish between different colors for accurate fiber identification. Willingness to work in various environmental conditions typical of a data center construction site.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $22 to $28 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
